Build Log 8/13

August 13, 2025

Major update today! With some help from GPT-5 (which is rapidly growing on me) I dropped in Jamey's style recommendations and I'm really happy with the way it turned out. I thought it looked nice before, but while it was relatively clean, it was also bland.

This is supposed to be for creative work and in retrospect the old UI I started with was more fitting for hospital software than a writing platform.

The updated color scheme is really interesting and visually attractive. The posts look great, and the overall UI now feels professional with a distinct brand.

I've also been working on the posts page: when you publish and share a post, it will be available publicly on the internet and actually look like a real post. If you click back, you have your list of posts that you published on PostCurrent.

I've also been working on the OpenGraph previews so when you share on X, Slack, Messages or others you should get one of those nice looking previews with the article title, description and photo if applicable.

I feel like it's starting to look like a real platform. Something that makes sense if you were cross shopping with Substack or Medium. It’s way more polished, and I’m really excited about it.

A few other things from today:

  • Text alert service: When a new user signs up or there is an application error, I get a text message. This will help me react faster when things go wrong (or right).
  • Free trial update: Trials used to go through Stripe and looked like you had to pay. Now they just happen. Once the trial is over you can still download your stuff, and there is a straightforward Stripe checkout.
  • Made the dashboard/default logged page significantly more useful with direct links to convert notes into long form articles, social posts or build logs.
